I like to make simple casts of of objects with a variety of materials. Sometimes the materials aren’t really meant to be cast with. I like to experiment. I also enjoy walking along the precipice of whew I got it off and too many overhangs, must break it. I’m not precious, at least not with sculpture. When I was younger I worked for many years as a props carpenter in a repertory theater. In the same theater, I helped produce exciting children’s theater and learned about puppetry. Many of the techniques I lean on come from those fertile days. Most of the time I just like to see if I can cast a skull or what-have-you out of leaves, or reeds, or tissue paper. How can I hold a thing without holding the thing. How can I remember it. It is a process of three dimensional stamping. Here is an approximation. Here is a memory.
